Nelson Birdwell III was convicted yesterday of first-degree murder in the beating death of his uncle but was acquitted in the murders of his aunt and young cousin.

Birdwell, 19, who is called Ben, will serve life in prison, the same penalty imposed on admitted murderers Bryan and David Freeman, his cousins.
