Edward Leon Fields Jr. told an FBI agent that killing two campers in the Ouachita National Forest made him "sick and nauseous.

Yet the next day, he began a shopping spree with the victims' credit cards even buying an engagement ring according to testimony Friday in the sentencing phase of Fields' federal murder trial.

Fields, 38, a former prison guard, pleaded guilty last month to the July 10, 2003, murders of Charles and Shirley Chick. The Chicks were shot at their campsite in the Winding Stair Recreation Area of Le Flore County.

Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty. The only other option for jurors is life without the possibility of release. The sentencing trial resumes Monday
